1963 Company founding
The company was founded by Reinhold Tontarra as a "Hausgewerbetreibender" (worked from small workshop to do specific jobs for a few companies) on September 9, 1963 in Tuttlingen. The company was named "Reinhold Tontarra, Chirurgische Instrumente".
1966
In the spring of 1966, Reinhold Tontarra successfully passed the master craftsman’s examination for the surgical mechanic trade and joined the Chamber of Trade in Reutlingen.
1967

1979
Company move: In 1979, the company moved to new facilities in nearby Wurmlingen.
1983
Thomas Tontarra, the son of the company founder, was the guild, chamber, state and national winner in the trade youth performance competition.
1987
He successfully passed the master craftsman’s examination in the surgical mechanic trade. / Company reorganization
1989
Company expansion in Wurmlingen
1990
On June 1, 1990, the company "Reinhold Tontarra - Chirurgische Instrumente" was renamed "TONTARRA Medizintechnik GmbH". Reinhold Tontarra and Thomas Tontarra became the managing directors.
1991
25-year anniversary: In spring 1991, "Reinhold Tontarra -Chirurgische Instrumente" / "TONTARRA Medizintechnik GmbH" celebrated their 25-year anniversary.
1993
Company expansion in Wurmlingen
2001
A new generation - Change in management: On April 1, 2001, Mr. Reinhold Tontarra retired from his management role. Mr. Alberto Petrella joined the company as managing director. He is the manager of Administration, Sales and Marketing and Mr. Thomas Tontarra manages Development, Production and Human Resources.
2006
Since August 2006, TONTARRA Medizintechnik GmbH has been producing at the new site in the Wurmlingen industrial area "Fürselben". 3000 m² are available for production and warehousing. A three-storey building with about 1000 m² for office, training and social rooms was built. Currently there are about 90 people employed.
